Laura tagged me and I didn't want to make 2 posts yesterday. Yes, it's the day after Thanksgiving, but I'm going to post this anyway. Hang on to Thanksgiving while you can, Christmas is nipping at its heels!
Do you cook all or part of the meal? Part - most of the meal comes from La Madeleine and I make the sweet potato casserole with praline topping
How much do you spend buying groceries for the meal? $75 for the La Madeleine part and about $25 for the rest -- butter, brown sugar, sweet potatoes, pecans, cream and other extras,
Do you eat at home or go to someone else’s? We usually eat at home.
Describe your perfect bite? La Madeleine redskin mashed potatoes - the best.
White meat or dark? Both, please.
Stuffing with giblets or without? When we cook the meal from scratch, the giblets go in the gravy. La Madeleine stuffing doesn't have anything objectionable in it. Sometimes when we cook the whole meal, we'll put oysters in our cornbread dressing.
Anything you won’t eat at the Thanksgiving meal? Are you kidding? I eat anything!
Carve Mr. Gobble at the table or serve on a platter? Platter
Favorite pie? Sweet potato or pecan
Formal table or Chinet? No paper products
Your menu? Turkey, redskin mashed potatoes, stuffing, mushroom gravy, sweet potato casserole with praline topping, cranberry sauce, sourdough rolls, pecan tart and warm cranberry pudding with butter sauce.
Favorite leftover? All of it? OK, just the stuffing and mashed potatoes. And the turkey and cranberry. And the sweet potato . . . ..
Extended family, friends, both or just the immediate family for dinner? Usually just the 3 of us
After dinner, do you go to the latest movie or football on TV? Well, I usually take a nap! But there was football yesterday.
Do you watch the Macy’s Parade? The boys do but I don't.
Christmas decorations up before or after? After
Black Friday shopping or sleep in? I don't do crowds, so you'll never find me out on Black Friday. Didn't sleep in today, either, but I could have.
Any special Thanksgiving tradition? Sweet potato casserole and the Turkey Bowl - see post below.
Favorite thing about Thanksgiving? The predictability of the day and having time to sit back and really think about the things I have to be thankful for. And the meal. I love the meal.
Favorite Thanksgiving memory? At my Meneau's (grandmother) house, setting up the big table and having yummy things like ambrosia with fresh coconut and having all the family there.
I'll tag - Gay and Lisa - I want to hear an Alayna and a DeNero story!
