I don't really buy into that whole American Idol thing. I watched the last show of season 1. I don't think I caught a single show of season 2, and I watched maybe 4 or 5 times during season 3. Season 4 was another thing - I watched almost every episode from the time the top 12 were named. I cringed every time Carrie Underwood sang - she has a beautiful voice, but she just couldn't perform. I loved to hear her sing, but I hated to watch her. She looked like she was either in pain or was scared to death every time she was on the stage. She had a poker face that would occasionally break into a smile then go back to the serious look. She stood perfectly still except for a hand wave every now and then. NOT a performer, but such a songbird. I'm glad she won. And I have her CD, by the way.
Then came season 5. I watched the whole thing. While I liked Taylor a good bit, I couldn't believe he won. Yes, Taylor made me smile, and he certainly is a performer. Still, Kat and Elliott had the best voices by far, but now I remember I keep forgetting that America decides. That explains why many times the best voices don't win. Anyway, Elliott just didn't have a performer "look" and Kat seemed too unstable - but oh, could they ever sing.
I don't know what Kat is up to these days, but I found out what Elliott is up to. I was reading Karen Burniston's blog, and she had a link to an Elliott video. Wowzer! He's had some work done. He grew some hair. Need I say that the former monkey boy is HOT? AND he can sing. I think Wait For You is my new favorite song. Yes, I've downloaded it. Little red i-Pod . . . . . . . . (channeling Prince as she walks, er dances away).
This season? Haven't watched once. I don't think I'm missing much. The show is so full of filler that it's a terrible waste of time. It's the same old same old - about 30 minutes of music and an hour of crap. Besides, I know where to get my music tips - blogs!
