This week's topic for Friday September 28th: THIS IS THE ONE...
Imagine this: a complete hypothetical scenario... Your studio/creative space gets destroyed in a disaster (don't dwell on the disaster part too long). All people/family members/boyfriends/ husbands/animals are safe and sound and well. You can run back in and save only ONE item and carry it to safety. What would you save and why??
What a great thing to think about! When I went into my studio and looked around, the first thing I thought to grab was my iPod. Silly me. It can easily be replaced for less than I originally paid. The music? That's replaceable, too.
So, I took another long, hard look around. Almost everything could be replaced. I might not like to have to do that, but all the supplies, trinkets, and tools could be replaced. The stack of albums is bigger than I am tall, so although I'd love to save it, it will have to stay.
Then my eyes fell upon my big, black Creative Memories photo box. I'm not a CM scrapper, but they make some of the best tools in the business. I love this big black photo sorting box. I love the contents even more. Sure, I have a lot of current photos in there - my most favorite ones I'm planning to scrap. But the real treasure in this box are the many old family photos I could never replace. The photos of my granparents when they were married. The photo of my father and Uncle Mack when they were just little boys. The photo of my dad looking so handsome in his uniform. The box also has a couple of DVDs containing other treasured photos.
THIS is the one thing. This plain old black box full of priceless bits of paper that also holds my dearest memories.
